Our Read
The Super is Pacific Energy’s most popular stove and a frequent answer on r/woodstoving when someone wants simple secondary-burn heat without a catalyst to maintain. The same certified model line covers the Super Classic, the Alderlea T5 and the insert versions.
It’s also the most clearly labeled stove we cover. Pacific Energy prints “72,000 BTU cord wood” and “38,200 BTU EPA test fuel” next to each other, and 71.3% efficiency with the HHV basis named. That’s exactly the gap this site exists to explain: the same stove, two fuels, two very different maximums.
As a non-cat, it emits more than the cat and hybrid stoves here (1.8 g/hr against a 2.0 g/hr limit) and is less efficient on paper. The trade is a simpler stove that’s easy to run hot.
Bottom line: The straightforward non-cat pick with the most transparent spec sheet. Expect about 38,000 BTU/hr on a tested load and less burn time than a cat stove of the same size.

What We Haven't Checked
- Current list price (dealer-priced).
- Burn time claim (none published on the pages we checked).
- Real-world output in your house, which depends on wood moisture, chimney draft and how you run the stove. Nobody's lab number covers that.
